Plastic Oceans International and Breathe Conservation are excited to bring our knowledge of plastic pollution to Easter Island, and to share that expertise with the local community.

Likewise, this is equally an opportunity for our two organizations to be educated at the local level. There is much for us to learn about how plastic pollution is specifically impacting Easter Island, and how the local community and officials are addressing it. We are also interested in learning about how globalization and a quickly expanding tourism industry have created waste management challenges on the island.

We will be meeting with numerous government officials, local businesses, and community members, all with the goal of coming away with a better understanding of what’s happening there and how we can be part of the solution.

More details to come soon.
